I want to start off by saying that this is not a sponsored post in any way because I’d been lusting over this Bento style lunch box by Yumbox for quite a while. Naturally when they sold out of the Panino on several websites I completely regretted the decision to not purchase earlier. I then checked DAILY for when the Panino were restocked!
Even though, at AU$39.95, they’re not particularly cheap AND I had three to buy, I decided to go ahead anyway and that, my friends, is how we arrived at this post!
THE YUMBOX LUNCH BOX
It measures a tidy 20cm x 15cm with a height of 5cm.
Tray Insert
It has a tray insert that you can remove fairly easily and this fits nicely into the moulded lid. The idea being that your food will stay put. While it does claim to being leak proof it also warns you to not put super liquidy things in there too.
Hinge & Clip
It’s joined by a hinge in the middle and has a clip that locks it shut. I liked this because we have a rather varied selection of tubs with no lids in this house. I was a bit concerned that it might be somewhat child proof but before I could worry about it too much Little Man had already opened and closed his lunch box on the first try with no issues.

THE LEAK TEST
My first try was shaking the box quite a bit when it had a standard yogurt inside. The second try was with ketchup.
Before yogurt
After yogurt
Before ketchup
After ketchup
As you can see, it held the contents in excellently and just with the kind of lid splatter that you could expect from quite a vigorous shaking.
I also took a photo of how a standard size teaspoon fits inside. It was pretty roomy actually and I had no problems accessing all of the contents.
CONCLUSION
I’d highly recommend this lunchbox if you’re in the market for one. It’s so easy to fill and the kids love them. I got many questions from other parents as to where we purchased them when we debuted them at our local playgroup. I also plan on doing another post showing you the meals I pack for Little Man and how roomy it is.
But what do you think? Do you have one? What do you use now for pack lunches?
Cheers,
Katie
