THE LITTLE ARTIST

Not so long ago, during a particularly rainy week, Little Man and I got our creativity on. I was in the middle of sorting out our junk room study, and found a few blank canvas’s. We started small, two A4 size ones to begin with, then the next day we went the whole hog and got a meter square canvas. It wasn’t long before Little Man was covered in paint and close to rolling around on the canvas. The result was amazing, and I have a lovely new painting in my entry way (post to follow shortly).

I was pretty impressed with the paints we used. They are actually washable (I’m skeptical of this title after Little Man got paint on a t-shirt during playgroup and it stained). It easily washed off his skin and the old sheet I used. The colours we used were pretty pastels but there are bolder ones to choose from. They come in little pots and I believe cost around $10 from Kmart.

In short, it feels good to know I can let Little Man get as messy as possible and then hose him down with ease! I believe it’s really important to let kids get dirty and allow a space to express themselves artistically, not to mention the benefits of sensory play.

Until next time,
Katie
